2016 Mini-Quality Academy UAB School of Health Professions
During the Summer of 2015, I found myself volunteering for a small team of UAB staff in their Office of Interprofessional Simulation. As a UAB alumni from the Department of Art and Art History I approached this volunteer position with an investigative eye and would at least come away with a documentary photography project. What I came away with proved to be so much more. I took a leap of faith and presented the co-director with a personal observation. and justification for why they needed someone who could devote the dedicated time required in maintaining all the various equipment that was required in the delivery of simulation. I was eyeing one particular area where I could thrive. Moulage. I was hired full-time on the fourteenth of November 2015. My birthday.
I spent nearly 7 years with the University of Alabama at Birmingham simulation center, a non-profit orgainization promoting better training for medical and healthcare professionals while improving patient safety and clinical practice.
